My trusty old friend January 16, 2008 jp23mc (Franklin,TN USA) I have been using this keyboard for about 4 years now and just love it. Leave off all of the special keys, media buttons and scroll wheel and this would still be my favorite keyboard. The keys are perfectly spaced, just the right height and not the least bit mushy. I've tried several keyboards since, but never found one that matches. In fact I try to buy a couple extra whenever I see them in case one of the 5 I have in use now goes out.
My best investment. February 7, 2007 N. K. Metzger (Moreno Valley, CA, USA) This keyboard is the best investment in office equipment that I've made this whole year. I have a fantastic piece of equipment for a bargain.
Great For Basic Normal Use. However, Has Flaws. July 12, 2005 Nathan T. (SOMEWHERE) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've had this keyboard for a few weeks and overall, the good thing about the keyboard is that it is a great overall keyboard. The keys are relatively soft to the touch, pretty quiet, but not much of a difference to my old one that came with the cpu. It does not affect my typing at the least, the wrist rest an appreciated extra because my last keyboard, however, I wish the wrist wrest was made from a softer material. The media buttons are nice, but I would rather have the volume control knob instead. Also, the media button also gives you the option to choose which media player you want. Can't program. So basically, its a push and click away, not just a push of a button that I want it to be.
If you are planning to use this keyboard mainly for normal typing and functions of a keyboard, than its as good as it comes. There is also a small scroller on the left part of the keyboard if you look at the picture of it. However, if you have a mouse with a scroller already, this wouldn't be used much.
However, here are the flaws:
-Have problem with putting cpu on safemode using this keyboard. F8 doesn't work.
-The term internet navigator only seems to work for my Internet Explorer and not for other kind of browsers like Avant/Firefox/ETC. So if you are using it, there goes many of those extra keys on this keyboard, especially the ones at the top right.
-Volume control tends to cause minor lag to cpu. I have a 2.5 GHZ 1.5 GB DDR cpu. It especially shows when you are using the windows media player, you'll see it.
-I can't seem to configure many of the so called configurable keys, like the webcam.
-Sometimes upon startup, the keyboard's media and top left and right controls don't work. Maybe there's more but thats all I use. So I have to reboot the computer in order to get it back.
-The new extra keys make the keyboard look...more high tech and gives it a look of higher value than what it does cost. However, most of it will be useless because the average user would rather just click on what they need than find the key on the keyboard...THE MANY KEYS ON THE KEYBOARD.
-F lock makes it more complicated. There's more about this, but for you to find out.
HOWEVER...HOWEVER. For the price (I bought this keyboard, BRAND NEW IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX WITH EVERYTHING, for $11 total!) this is definately...definately a good keyboard. If you use IE, than that just means you have the use of nearly all of the keys on this keyboard and can take advantage of its function completely. And maybe the problems I have is just me and my computer.
Its a pretty good looking keyboard and you should be very happy with it for the money. Good day to all.
so-so May 27, 2005 Pierre Clement (Ann Arbor, MI USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Initially, this keyboard made me pretty happy. I was using a notebook computer and just didn't feel comfortable using it's embedded keyboard (cramped and gets hot when computer works hard). That's why this Logitech keyboard was purchased.
Logitech's keyboard generally works nicely, but I since moved away from using it. Yes, I'm back to the notebook keyboard. Here's why: in my opinion (of course) the Navigator keyboard has two design flaws.
Spongy keys. Well, I'm not sure exactly how to describe that, but the keys are either depressed with deep motions, or they just are too spongy. I type slower on this keeboard than ever before!?
Function keys are disabled by default. The same buttons function as shortcuts to Windows programs first. You must switch on the keys with some other button after every boot. That is just not natural for me. If you don't use function keys - then this style may be right for you.
Goodbye Microsoft/ Hello Logitech February 17, 2005 W. T. White (Nashville, Tennessee United States) quiet, less fatigue with all the little gadgets you would likely never use but if there is any "techie" in you, you will love this keyboard....Has some neat features I have never seen on a keyboard and after several hours of working with the unit, I do not feel the strain and pain in my wrists and hands......
