Amazon.com Product Description Polk Audio's RCi Series in-wall speakers let you deliver sound to every room in your home without sacrificing a single square inch of valuable floor or shelf space, and the RC60i in-wall speakers are no exception. Paint them to match your decor and they practically disappear, leaving you with nothing but high-performance sound. Installation is easy as 1-2-3: cut a single hole, feed the wires through to your receiver or amplifier, and simply drop the speaker in. Rotating cams secure the speakers safely with no extra assembly or mess. A round shape and flush design allows each RC60i to mimic the look of a recessed lighting fixture, providing the ultimate in stealth sound. The pair is durable, too, with moisture-resistant materials that are perfectly safe for use in bathrooms, kitchens, saunas--even under outdoor eaves. Rubber driver surrounds outlast cheap foam surrounds for years of trouble-free performance. Dynamic Balance components and aimable tweeters ensure spacious imaging with stunning clarity and well-balanced sound in any listening position, not just a small "sweet spot." Wide-dispersion design means you'll enjoy even coverage across small and large rooms alike. The speakers use large, 6.5-inch cones for rich, full-bodied sound. Further, their Infinite Baffle tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space to enhance their bass response. The speakers are timbre-matched to the members of Polk's RTi Series for seamless, enveloping sound when used as part of a home theater. What's in the Box Two speakers, paint masks, and a user's manual.

Better than I expected. September 8, 2010 Gadgets on a budget (Philadelphia, PA) I moved from a small row home with a tiny entertainment area to one that was wider, longer and better suited for a home theater. I already owned a 5.1 full sized system with floor speakers for front and back channel matched to a pretty big center speaker. Well the moment my wife started decorating she started saying she didn't want the big speakers taking over the room. I told her that big speakers equalled big sound.
Well we went to Best Buy to shop for a tv when she saw the speakercraft in wall and in ceiling speakers. They sounded so good and looked so cool I wanted them too, but $400 plus apiece I had to research for a alternative solution. Conveniently the non-magnolia (Translation:affordable) ones weren't hooked up for auditioning. So I started researching and reading reviews which led me to these.
I know no one should by speakers without listening to them but so many good reviews gave me great confidence.I called crutchfield and they sealed the deal. I bought 3 pair and used five speakers for five channels and my jbl pb12 for a sub. I must say that I first listened to them using my entry level sony str-dg510 which really didn't impress me. In fact I felt they were terrible sounding. I needed a second receiver since the sony was for my small bedroom anyway.
I bought the pioneer vsx-820-k and immediately saw what these could sound like. Wow!! We've watched Transformers, Monsters and Aliens. The detail and sound-stage are phenomenal. I will say that its much better for movies than music. I have another system for that.
I want people who can't audition them to have confidence that these speakers are quality and sound good. They even look great. Hope my review isas helpful as the ones I've read.
Great speakers for small room August 27, 2010 Reader (Southern Oregon) Purchased and installed two sets of these speakers in two bedrooms after previously installing and enjoying the larger 8" version in my living room. They have great sound (even better than the 8"), are a snap to install, and the directional tweeter is a nice feature. 10 min. max to install. To maximize the bass, I always build a "box" between the joists by placing a piece of plywood at each end (approx. 24" apart) and eliminate any insulation. These babies thump! Can feel it in the floor. Fit, finish and overall quality is outstanding and one can't beat Amazon's price.
Installation tips August 15, 2010 TurtleHair 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't have the right amplifier yet to judge the soud,Sound quality is good, installation is easy, and here sharing two tips:
(1) Template for cutting - for cutting out the dry wall, use the *outside* hole (the bigger hole), not the inside hole. Insert the template through the speaker to feel how much extra margin you need.
(2) Remove the metal grid - the best advise (in previous review from William) is first un-lock the four plastic clips (later used to lock to the dry wall), then push the clips from the back-side, and the metal grid will pop out. Don't try to poke or fish the grid from the small holes from the front side!
Excellent speak for the price August 14, 2010 Gary Rhodes II I use these for the rear left and right speakers in my home theater setup and am very pleased. I liked them so much I bought another pair to install when I moved houses. Being able to aim the tweeters toward your listening position is a nice feature, as well as the paintable exterior (the cutout pattern doubles as a paint shield) and they sound great to my ears. There are, of course, better speakers out there, but for your average home theater enthusiast these are a great buy and probably beat out all but the most expensive home theater in a box speakers, not to mention the fact that they are practically hidden in your ceiling. I'm happy because I have completed a nice home theater, and my wife is happy because there are two fewer speakers cluttering up the floor in our living room.
Sound quality adequate at best August 14, 2010 Jeff C I bought the Polk RC 80i speakers for a multi-room sound system in my home. If you like classical music, where crispness and full range fidelity are important, this is not your speaker. Highs are muddy, and lows are virtually non-existent. Mid-range is adequate. I have owned Polk Audio floor speakers, and these are in no way comparable. I did a side-by-side test with some M&K S125 home theater speakers, and the Polks sounded washed out and flat by comparison. For low volume, background music these speakers are okay, but audiophiles--or those who know what a good quality speaker should sound like--will not be pleased.
